Q:  I am currently pregnant and my employer’s insurance little did I know DOESNT HAVE MATERNITY OPTION. Which I would of never got if I would of known. So now I can not add maternity to my insurance because I am currently pregnant. I would like to know if COBRA would pick me up or help. Anything would be a huge improvement.

A:  COBRA is a continuation the same benefits, same coverage you had before the qualifying event occurred.  If you are still employed and you have group benefits, COBRA would not be an option for you.  You may need to contact your state’s department of insurance at www.naic.org to see what plans are available through your state.  Another option if a state plan is not available is a healthcare savings plan; please visit www.benicard.com for more information.
