Q:  I have COBRA insurance up until August 25th, 2008 and I signed up for it on June 28th, 2008. Can I extend the coverage? Jennifer Huff

A:  You should be able to continue your COBRA benefits.  Your length of coverage is determined by your qualifying event.

18 months: job termination (quit or got “let go”), reduction of working hours

36 months:  death, divorce, legal separation, loss of child dependant status, and the entitlement to Medicare.
