Q:  I am currently insured with Humana insurance through my employer. How can I transfer my current coverage to COBRA when I quit my job? How much would I pay each month? I am pregnant and my due date is March. Any information is helpful. Thank you

A:  COBRA is a continuation of your previous employer's group health policy.  If there is coverage for pregnancy and maternity on that health plan than there will be coverage for the pregnancy and maternity through COBRA continuation. Your newborn child can be added on to COBRA for additional premiums.  You will be able to remain on COBRA for up to 18 months.  On COBRA you will pay 100% of the group monthly premium and up to an additional 2% administration fee.   You should contact your previous employer to find out the exact cost of coverage.
