Q: I will be moving out of state and currently have Blue cross HMO. I am 6months pregnant also. Blue cross of california is not covered in Tennessee where I am moving. Does my employeer have to give me an alternative coverage plan?
A: Normally, you will need to see if Blue Cross is in the state you are moving to. Since you were informed it is not, then the Cobra will not be able to transfer. Your employer is not responsible for giving you an alternative plan since you are not going to be able to continue on Cobra and that you are moving out of state. Pregnancy is considered a pre-existing condition with all individual major medical plans, so you will be responsible for any incurred bills.
