Q: I was terminated on Dec 9th, I had Plan 7 Blue Cross, my previous Employer sent in Plan 12 no where near the same coverage! She said her hands are tied because the plan coverage number for Plan7 is now Plan12. I just had a total HIP replacement based on reading my Cobra plan which says the coverage would be the same? The Plan which has the same coverage as I had before is now called Plan 4, Which I had signed up for to take place Jan1 before I was Terminated, That's the plan I should have but the numbers don't match, I don't care about the numbers I just want the same coverage I had been Paying for! Is this a law that I get the same coverage? Thanks
A: On COBRA you should be offered the same coverage you had before, the only exception to that would be if your employer does not offer that benefit plan anymore, then you would be offered the same insurance as the other employees at the company. If you feel your employer is being unreasonable you should contact the Federal Department of Labor.
