Q: I am currently am in the NY Air National Guard. I am on active duty and on Tri Care. As of roughly the end of March, I will no longer be on Tri care, and it will be roughly a week before I get to my civilan job and on there health insurance. I have a 9 month pregnant wife who is due around the end of the month, where there will be a break in insurance. Can I get insurance for the month, so I dont have a lapse in insurance, with a new born soon to be here, and what plan would be best for me with these circumstances that I have listed. Thank you for your time.
A: We are a company that offers Cobra Alternatives. They are short term major medical plans that cover new illnesses or injuries. They do not cover any pre-existing conditions. Due to the pregnancy this plan would not be available. You may want to contact the Federal Employee Act- Armed Services 202-606-1800.
