Q: I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes six years ago. I want to get insurance that covers my diabetic supplies. I saw a plan that works with my old employer but it's double the cost. Can you give me the directions to get to that plan because it doesn't do so on this website page? Also, it states that a pre-existing condition is something that has come up in the past five years. Since my condition was six years ago, is that still considered a pre-existing condition? Thank you
A: The coverage your employer is referring to that is more expensive would be your Cobra coverage. This would cover your pre-existing condition of diabetes and your supplies. What you are seeing on our plans for Cobra Alternatives, they are more affordable but they do not cover pre-existing conditions. Even though it was six years ago, its something you have been treated for and are still treating with medications.
