Q: I was laid off from my job in March and have been receiving cobra information for about three or four weeks. I am just now getting an understanding of it. My question is...could they send me a monthly bill as I do not have a checking account, savings account nor any credit cards. I work as a temp for another trucking company but they do not do any payroll deductions for anything like this. I would love to continue coverage as when I was laid off, I had a few dental and doctors’ appointments pending, etc. I need an understanding of what the cost to me would be and whether or not they could send me a monthly bill. Thanks
A: When you opt for Cobra coverage, you pay for that coverage monthly. As in you have to send in a check every month for payment, to set this up you need to talk to whomever your Cobra coverage is through, which is your previous employer. They may be able to put you in contact with their 3rd party administrator who handles their Cobra coverage. As well as any questions you have in regards to your coverage need to go through your previous employers HR or benefits department. anding of what the cost to me would be and whether or not they could send me a monthly bill. Thanks
