Q:  If you lose your job do you qualify for special benefits through cobra- you pay 35% of cobra.

A:  To be eligible for the reduction you need to be eligible for Cobra.  To find out if you are eligible for Cobra, you need to contact your previous employer, the HR department or their benefits department.  If your company has more than 20 employees and still has a group health plan, than Cobra should be an option.

As far as the reduction goes, if you were involuntarily laid off and you are not eligible for Medicare or another group health plan, you may be eligible for the reduction in your premium.  But again, you would need to clarify this with your employer; they are the ones who are going to supply you with the information on how to apply for Cobra coverage.
