Q:I was recently let go, my health insurance will end 7/31/09. I am married and have two children that I would also like to be on my insurance plan. Please let me know what kind of coverage/rates I can get. Thanks!
A:If you are referring to Cobra, you need to apply for that through your previous employers HR department.Whoever was on the group health plan when you were working is eligible to apply and get coverage through Cobra.Cobra is a federal law that allows you to continue your health insurance after you have been let go, the coverage is going to be exactly the same. You need to talk with your employer directly to see if they are offering Cobra and they need to supply you with the information to apply.
If you are looking for an alternative plan, simply click the following link: Short Term Medical Insurance or simply call 877-279-7959 ex 219 and I would be more than happy to generate a quote for you and your family.
