Q: I will be laid off this month (6/20/09) and my employee insurance will end. They did offer me to continue coverage w/Cobra but I can’t afford the high premium rate. I do have a pre-existing condition (high blood pressure) which requires daily medication. I have no clue what to due from here. Please tell me my options and help me please.
A: You can take the Cobra coverage, and find out from your employer if you are eligible for the reduction your premium, the stimulus. As well as you can find insurance on your own, you may still be eligible for health insurance plans, they would just rate you differently for your pre-existing condition of high blood pressure.
