Q: I recently sent a check in the mail (2 weeks ago) and it has not been cashed. Please tell me if you have my information on file. My employer refered Cobra to me. Also I was in the middle of doctor visits and testing when my benefits ran up. I sent my enrollment info and a check just after my benefits expired. Will you cover my medical expenses?
A: When you filled out the election form and send in your premium payments, you either sent that to the past employer or the administrator that the employer hires to take care of your COBRA paper work. We do not have access to your personal account information. As soon as your payments are processed with them, than your coverage will back date and there will be no lapse in coverage. You may need to hang on to those bills or receipt and submit them once the policy is active again. The insurance company may be able to reimburse you for those expenses.
