Q:If the company I work for stops paying for my insurance I currently have, can I apply for COBRA. Also, if the company I work for files bankruptcy can I apply for Cobra. Thanks
A:If your company no longer offers health insurance to its employees, therefore there is no longer a group health plan, than Cobra is not an option. To be eligible for Cobra there has to be more than 20 employees and a health insurance plan in force for you to continue on.If the company goes bankrupt and closes and cancels there group health plan, Cobra unfortunately is not going to be an option.
