Q:  I have had cobra insurance for fourteen months and now am disabled. SSI has given me state help with medical for only three months until my disability comes through. We are living on my wife’s check of less then 1300 a month I do not want to give my cobra up i will need it after the three months.

A:  You need to speak with your Cobra administrator or your previous employers benefits or HR department to see if you can get an extension due to your disability, they will let you know if that is a possibility or not.  You can also view the website www.dol.gov/COBRA to see if you can find any information pertaining to your situation on there that can help you out.
