Q:  My Company recently closed and was absorbed by the parent company. Some employees were retained, some were not. I was not. Does the parent company have the obligation to offer Cobra?

A:  If the company has more than 20 employees and still has a group health plan available to the remaining employees Cobra could be an option to you still.  I would recommend talking with the benefits/HR Department of your past employer and verify that they are going to offer Cobra too you.  If they are going to, they should supply you with a Cobra packet for you to enroll into the continuation of coverage.
