Q:  My friend was laid off in Sept.   Is she eligible for the ARRA subsidy only thru Dec 2009 or is she eligible for the ARRA subsidy from Oct on for nine months? It is not written clearly. Does the program end on Dec 31st even though nine months have not passed? Thank you so much.

A:  If your Cobra is subject to the 9 months of reduction, you are eligible for that from your first month of Cobra reduced coverage up to 9 months, it won’t end in December.  Decembers date is just the date that if you were laid off up to that you can still receive the reduction, for the full 9 months.  I hope this makes sense, if not go to www.dol.gov/COBRA
