Q: I resigned from my job and  I thought my former employer was to send Cobra information to me. Do they have anything to do with Cobra? Or am I on my own?

A:  COBRA is a continuation of your former employer's group health policy.  Your employer has a total of 45 days from the qualifying event (last day of work or last day of benefits) to get your COBRA notification to you.  From the date that you get your notification, you have 60 days to elect coverage. If your employer can not answer your questions or does not comply, you can call the Department of Labor at 1-866-487-2365.
