Q:  I have been told that my Blue Cross-Blue Shield has been converted to COBRA; however, I have never received any ID cards, or any confirmation that that was true. I have never received any verification in writing that I am covered. I have not been able to afford medical or pharmaceutical services. I have tried to call my benefits manager, but she will not return my calls. Can you give me any information on what I can do? I really need to get this insurance started. Thanks.

A:  Cobra is a continuation of the exact same coverage you had previously, therefore you may not be receiving new ID cards etc.  Have you tried using your cards for a medical service or on your prescriptions to see if your coverage is active?  I also recommend you call your Insurance carrier to see if your coverage is active or keep calling your past employers benefits department.
