Q:Can a school district who has been offering health coverage to their employees and needs to cut back on expenses drop insurance coverage for all employees? If so, can those employees get COBRA insurance? If not, where can they go to get affordable insurance?
A:If an employer does not offer health Insurance to its employees or if they drop a group health plan than Cobra is not an option.Cobra is a continuation of health Insurance from a group health plan, but if there is no health Insurance in force than Cobra isn’t an option. You can contact your State Department of Insurance to see if your State offers mini-cobra, or feel free to call me directly to look into what Individual Health Insurance options we have.My number to reach me is 877-279-7959 x 219
