Q:  I have not had insurance since 12/01/2005 I worked for a prison and had Insurance.  Can I still receive Cobra insurance?  Since I did not use it then?

A:  No, Cobra has a period or time or an election period you have to choose the coverage.  Since it was 5 years ago, Cobra is no longer an option to you.  You would need to find your own individual coverage or have coverage through an employer.  When you lose your benefits from an employer you have 60 days to elect the Cobra coverage after you have received the information in the mail.  My suggestion is to look for your own individual plan.
