Q: My past employer has terminated my COBRA coverage. When are they allowed to do that?
A: If you are a qualified beneficiary, you can be terminated from your COBRA insurance if:
1. You do not pay your premium payment in a timely manner. 2. The employer no longer has a group health plan to offer to you and/or the entire company. 3. You have additional group health insurance and the pre-existing limitations clause has been removed. 4. You have group health insurance with a new employer that does cover pre-existing medical conditions. 5. You become entitled to Medicare benefits after your election date. 6. Your coverage has come to an end by meeting the maximum coverage time period.
