Q: I am a graduate student at the Univ. of Colorado and have student health insurance. I will graduate on 7/28/07 and will be looking for a job. I will not be a student anymore and will be moving to Maryland. Do I qualify for Cobra Insurance?
A: COBRA covers group health plans offered by employers (private-sector or state/local government) that have more than 20 employees. Group health plans that are sponsored by private-sector are generally taken care of by ERSA. You will have to contact the University's insurance department to see if COBRA is an option for you. If it is, than they will send information out to the beneficiary via US mail. It would be a continuation of the same insurance that was offered prior the termination of coverage.
If you are a healthy person who does not live in NY, NJ, MA, or VT and would be interested in a lower cost Alternative to COBRA please Click Here With this policy you have the ability to choose your deductible: $250, $500, $1000 or $2500.
