Q: I was terminated on 1/06/2006. I kept my dental insurance through Cobra. They are telling me that is will be terminated on 7/14/2007. I thought it would be in force through August. (18 Months). If I am right, who do I contact to see why it is being canceled in July?

A:  You would need to contact your previous employer to determine your COBRA start date.  COBRA continuation starts on the day of a qualifying event.  If your COBRA begins on 1/6/07, your COBRA would end on 7/6/07.  The maximum amount of time you can remain on COBRA continuation is 18 months.
