Q:  I anticipate eventually leaving my job and needing COBRA Insurance. If my husband is not insured currently under my employer's health insurance, can I add him to COBRA at the time or resignation or do I need to add him to my current insurance policy now for him to be eligible for COBRA?

A:  An employee, spouse or dependents who are covered under a group health plan on the day before a qualifying event (in your case, leaving) will be eligible for COBRA continuation coverage.  Your husband must be on the policy before you leave to be eligible for COBRA.
