Q:   I elected to take COBRA coverage and paid my invoice which has cleared in my bank account. The insurance company says they have not been informed by COBRA that I have paid so they cannot reactivate my health insurance. Please advise ASAP. I’m having to pay out of pocket for my medical bills.

A:   Your COBRA premiums may be paid by the past employer or a 3rd party administrator that the employer has hired to handle your payments and bills. As soon as they have paid the insurance company, your coverage will be reinstated. You may wish to contact either party to verify payment was received from you.
