Q:I am sending my premium payments back to date of coverage loss. I have in the last week had surgery; will cobra still cover me if I pay my premiums before my election deadline?
A:Your previous employer has up to 45 days from the last day of work or last day the group benefits ended to send you the COBRA packet. You have an additional 60 days from the day you receive this packet to return the election form. COBRA is a continuation of your employer’s group health policy it will be the same benefits and coverages you had when your husband was employed.During this time period that it takes for you to receive the forms and return the completed election form you have coverage. You will need to re-submit the claims once the paperwork has been processed.
