Q: My job recently offered me the option of switching from being a regular full-time employee to a part-time employee. If I choose to do so, I will no longer be eligible to receive their group health insurance. I am wondering whether I would be eligible for health insurance under COBRA, and if so, how much would that cost?
A: One of the qualifying factors for COBRA is a reduction in hours. When the covered employee is no longer considered "full-time" they can continue the group health insurance policy. However they would be required to pay 102% of the entire cost. .
