Q:  I became disabled while working. My company paid my insurance for 3 months and then went on COBRA.  I went on Medicare while still disabled and still on COBRA. Would my spouse be entitled to additional coverage beyond the original 18 months I am on state disability but did not file under social security for disability.

A:  When you started receiving Medicare benefits, it caused a secondary qualifying event for your spouse.  She will be able keep COBRA for an additional 18 months for a maximum of 36 months. You should let your previous employer or their COBRA plan administrator know that she wants the additional 18 months.
