Q: One employee is retired with retiree group health coverage for himself and his spouse. He and his wife recently divorced. Is the retired employee's spouse (age 50) eligible for COBRA in this situation?

A:  A retired employee and their spouse and dependents in certain situations may be qualified beneficiaries and be eligible for COBRA.  You will need to contact your insurance carrier to see if they will provide the spouse with COBRA continuation.
