Q: My company's insurance is changing on March 1st to a plan that's much worse than what I have now. I'm pregnant, and someone told me that I could pay the full cost for my current insurance through COBRA, and then I won't have to switch on March 1st. Is this true?
A: An employee is not eligible for COBRA when they are still employed and still receiving group benefits unless their hours were reduced. When an employer changes or switches their health plan to a new insurance company, the old insurance plan will no longer be available.
