Q:  I work for the Pinellas county school system as an aide. I'm trying to get hired as a teacher but if that does not happen by this fall I'll need to substitute to get my face out there and I'll loose my insurance. I have high blood pressure and my husband has I believe its type 2 diabetes how does this affect us when I go to Cobra Insurance?

A:  If your employer has more than 20 employees they have to offer you continuation of their group benefits under COBRA law. You can not be turned down or denied COBRA continuation coverage because of pre-existing conditions. If there was coverage for your pre-existing conditions before the qualifying event, then they will be covered under COBRA.
