The reduction in Ford engineering staff occurred on Wednesday, April 27, affecting 350 salaried and 230 agency workers, with some leaving by the end of the week. The 350 salaried employees will receive severance packages that include nine months of pay, a limited time of benefits continuation, and career transition services. This is a permanent staff reduction, not a layoff.

According to Ford Authority, this isn’t the first time The Blue Oval has sought to reduce its employee headcount for workers responsible for various internal combustion related development efforts, as the automaker initiated buyouts for approximately 1,000 employees last summer.
