American Rescue Plan Act of 2021’s COBRA Subsidy Ends September 31. What’s next?

Terminating COBRA

Q: My finance will be added to my insurance with my Employer after we get married. How do we terminate the coverage with COBRA and what paperwork is needed to achieve this step? A: You can cancel your COBRA coverage when you obtain other insurance. You will need to notify your previous employer or the plan administrator in writing that you wish to cancel. After your insurance has been canceled or terminated the employer should send you a letter notifying you of your cancellation or termination of your COBRA. You should then receive a certificate of credible coverage for the time you were using COBRA.
