Q: I was on a family plan, where the deductible for our Family was around $7,000. I am now going onto COBRA as an individual, so I need to know what my deductible will be.

Surely, It cant be $7,000 too right?

A: COBRA is not an insurance company.

COBRA is a federal law that requires employers with 20 or more employees to offer the continuation of the same group health care coverage after you’ve voluntarily or involuntarily left your job, or have had your work hours reduced. In order to find out how much that would cost, you should contact your COBRA Administrator at your previous employer. That person is usually in the HR Department.
