ody Q: I receive health insurance from my union. I recently quit my job because of my health. I went on COBRA and then got Social Security disability. My policy with my union states that I can continue to belong to the health plan as a retired person but my union says that COBRA law will not permit me to cancel COBRA but stay on the health plan as a disabled retiree. This does not make sense to me. Can you tell me if there is a provision in the COBRA law that would preclude me from staying on the health plan after canceling COBRA? I have as yet not canceled COBRA.
