COBRA in a new state

ody Q: I was recently let go from my job in Massachusetts (not for misconduct) and had to move out of state to live with family in Utah in order to make ends meet and seek employment. My wife is currently 7 months pregnant and needs immediate access to healthcare coverage. The health insurance offered through my previous employer is an HMO plan that is specific to New England and does not provide coverage to myself and my family in Utah. Is my previous employer obligated to provide an alternative plan that offers similar coverage in my new state of residence?
