Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser Permanente is an integrated, nonprofit health system founded in 1945 and headquartered in Oakland, California. It combines Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and the physician-led Permanente Medical Groups to deliver care and coverage under one roof.

Today Kaiser serves roughly 12.5 million members across eight states and the District of Columbia: California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and D.C. It operates about 40 hospitals and more than 600 medical offices.

Kaiser’s plans earn strong third-party marks, including NCQA accreditation and highly rated Medicare Advantage plans for 2025. Its hospitals are accredited by The Joint Commission, and the enterprise holds solid investment-grade credit ratings (AA- from Fitch).
