Can I Have COBRA And My Spouse’s Work Insurance?

I had COBRA and elected to cancel at the end of April. I signed up for my spouse’s plan, but I would rather continue with COBRA. Can I continue with COBRA and pay the premiums for May since I am still in the 30 day window? I probably can’t cancel insurance with my spouse’s plan till open enrollment. His has such a high deductible and out of pocket. Would COBRA be primary and spouse’s plan secondary?

You would need to see if you could get out of your spouse’s coverage before you can elect COBRA because you can’t be on two plans at once. Since you already said you can’t get off of that plan until his open enrollment, that’s probably not an option. You can always call your previous employer’s HR or third party COBRA administrator to get more answers.
